Guard Captain Tanhide

A massive old bovine fellow, clad in piecemeal armour from probably a dozen different sources. His breastplate bore the crest of the Menscherfiend family, his current employers. The left side of his face showed the marks of a particularly tough battle, a massive scar running down the side of his head through his eye, which was mercifully covered by a bolted-on eyepatch. His left ear had a piece missing, and the horn was broken off halfway along its length. He carried a splitblade, a long sword with two extra handles instead of a traditional crosspiece, and a flared end that was weighted with what appeared to be solid cast iron. In a case riveted to the back of his armour, the bull kept a flintlock rifle, for dealing with threats at a distance.
It was obvious this was a man not to be messed with.

Tanhide was a born-and-bred warrior, following his father's footsteps by joining the military as soon as he was of age. He fought in numerous campaigns, and rose quickly through the ranks. Along the way, he developed a habit of taking trophies from particularly 'worthy' kills, in the form of removing a piece of a fallen foe's armour and adding it to his own suit. Each piece has a story attached to it, which Tanhide will readily tell once he's had a bit of drink in him.

A couple of decades ago, he retired from the military and entered the private sector, where he was hired by the Menscherfiends to be the captain of their guard. He runs a tight ship, and the guards of Menscherfiend Manor are regarded as some of the most disciplined and well-trained on the continent.
